You don’t need to be a doctor to save life, you can save life by donating blood too.” I love to serve the people in need. The best way of the service is to save life of the people by donating blood. In every three months, I donate blood to fulfil my social responsibility and passion. My blood group is “A Negative” which is rare in Nepal. When I get connected with Blood For Nepal (BFN) via their online form, they start to call me to donate fresh blood for the patients in every three months. It makes me more responsible. BFN is connecting link between needy and blood donors. It is doing incredible job for the mankind.

Most of us are facing the shortage of blood in daily life. We have seen that, the blood are needed especially for accident case, delivery case, kidney dialysis, operation case and blood cancer case etc. And the patient get panic fast if they didn't get the blood from blood bank in time. Whenever there come the shortage of blood at blood bank, we make possible to provide the donors to the patient and be as a mediator between patient and donor. For all these purpose the project Blood for Nepal has established. Also, we provide different awareness related to blood management. If we want we ourself can manage for blood for that we need to initiate from ourselves. We can exchange the data of donor so that there would be easy to available the donor for all. We can share our experience of managing blood so that many of us will get the idea about it. Also, we can motivate people for the blood donation. Change is possible but we have to keep trying and give consistency towards our work. “A single pint can save three lives, a single gesture can create a million smiles”
I am Ranjit Mahara from Kshireshwarnath municipality, Dhanusha. My mother is suffering from breast cancer. From the beginning, she was undergoing her treatment at BP Koirala Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur. But due to Covid-19 it became impossible to continue her treatment in Bharatpur so we started continuing her treatment in janakpur. That day, I was in Jaleshwar, Mahottari and going towards hospital where my mother's treatment was going on. On the way, I got a call that I needed blood. Then, I asked my friends around the my village and most of them suggest me to contact with Blood for Nepal and said that their team will help you. But first I thought to contact the nearest Blood Transfusion Center. Then I went to the Red Cross and asked them for blood but I did not get a good response. Again I went to the red cross but they showed the same behavior. After a while, he said that there is shortage of blood but if its urgent we can provide you, for that you have to donate blood first i.e. blood has to be replaced. I donated blood and got one pint but needed 2 pint more blood. And than I remembered Blood for Nepal and text them a request for blood urgency. I got the response faster than I thought. They provided me contact numbers of two blood donors. I contact both the donors and they came and help my mother to got a new life. I want to thank the two blood donors who came as a god and save my mother's life and the whole team of Blood for Nepal.
Blood for Nepal is now a leading blood bank which stands with the strong vision to be the reason for someone’s life. Established two years ago (21st July, 2018), under Leo Club of Kathmandu Matribhumi during my presidency the team wouldn’t have thought to come up this far extending its services all over Nepal till today’s date. The total record as of now is 4000+ cases solved, 100+ volunteers and 2000+ donor list. It all needed a strong dedication, handwork and a pure zeal to serve and save the lives of people because “Blood is lives”. Sometimes money cannot save lives but the donated blood can, and as a senior Advisor I'm extremely proud of the BFN team and the work they are doing. The activeness and seriousness that they show in their communication reflects the purpose of the organization. And I hope the statistics will have greater increment in the coming years. Wishing a happy anniversary with the message “Donate your pints of blood and get a truck load of lots of blessings in return”
It was 27th july 2019 I was going to janakpur from Kathmandu. On my way, I was scrolling news feed on instagram and there I saw a post about blood requirement this post was shared by one of my relative and may be due to that reason i suddenly messaged her about the update and she said that her grandma is in hospital and she needs O+ve blood and my blood group is also same so I said her that I want to donate but first I need my parents permission. She started thanking me though I was not sure. Then I requested my mom to grant me permission but she didn’t agreed though I went to blood bank and gave my blood which saved her life. It was really awesome moment but then I started thinking that there might be many others who didn’t able to manage blood due to which they have to lost there close one. And so I started searching some pages who are helping in blood management. And there I found Blood for Nepal page, I opened it and started scrolling and I found it really nice. The members were doing great and in this process I saw a post where my attention goes there was a post about blood volunteering members needed and so I messaged and I got reply immediately then one of the member fixed meeting with me and after this he joined me to the volunteering group. And now this blood for Nepal is like a family for all of us. Then I got to know that the most happiest things in my life is when I became able to manage blood. I hear thanks often but when someone says it to me for managing blood to the needy ones, that feeling is incomparable. So I just want to request you all lets work together. Unity is strength.
